Sheriff's Office Launching
Crime Watch Web-Site
By David M. Somerfleck

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ed Bieluch and CrimeWatchAmerica, Inc. have teamed up to start their official Crime Watch web program, Saturday, August 10th, at 10 a.m. at the Sheriffs Satellite Office on 16133 Jupiter Farms Road.
The event will feature the Sheriff's Office new Mobile Operations Center, a "robot" that will converse with children, a children's fingerprinting program, and free refreshments.
The web-site was developed roughly over a year ago for Jupiter Farm denizens, Sheriff's Deputies and detectives, to be better able to quickly communicate important information. The site has been so successful in informing residents and in gathering responses resulting in arrests and property recovery that Sheriff Bieluch will implement the program countywide at the event as well.
This is something very important to all communities in helping to form crime watch groups. There are e-mail alerts, and e-alerts.
If you look on the left side of the screen, you'll be able to browse the site on your home
computer and if there's a crime
spree of say, car burglaries in any certain area and one person gets a description and gives a description to law enforcement of a green Ford pick-up fleeing from any crime scene, they can relay that in- formation to law enforcement, which, they normally would anyway. Law enforcement can go to the web site and go to the section called "On the Look-out," and everyone reading that will go 'Wow! I just saw that this morning!' So it's a tool to assist the community in being additional eyes and ears for law enforcement"
Crime Watch America, Inc. president and site designer Mike Lopilato said the site's official web-address (or URL)
w ill b e http://
www.pbsosafecommunities.com. Lopilato's ultimate goal is
to represent law enforcement agencies throughout the United States through a net- work of inter-connected Crime Watch America sites.
"It's a win-win-lose proposition; the community wins, law enforcement wins, and the criminals lose," said Lopilato, Crime Watch America, Inc. president and site designer.
